In the Attic

Silly things you cared about

Float into the sea

Careless words and layabouts

Pass without a plea

But you’ll come to see

Those silly things you should shout about

Those lazy days are worth the praise

Those careless words have matured

To beg and plead, to beg and plead

Such a simple but deep poem. The rhyming in the poem (and in the author's bio!) immediately draws me in. The poem overall makes me think about growing up and how we tend to brush off a lot of the growing pains or lessons as "silly" or "careless," but they still have played an integral part in who we have become. I would love to hear more from the poet and his inspiration!

Hello! Thank you for your kind words ☺. My inspiration for the poem was much of what you pointed out in your comment. I wanted to reflect and express how every little thing is valuable in our experience. I also hope to write more poems for this journal. Thank you again ☺
